Gnod – Shadow Mirror

Salford, UK psychedelic/noise rock collective Gnod announce Chronicles of Gnowt Vol. 1, the first of a planned trilogy, out April 10 via Rocket Recordings. Vol. 2 arrives in October, with Vol. 3 in early 2027. Lead single “Shadow Mirror” is out now.

The trilogy marks Gnod’s twentieth year of uncompromising and mind-bending music. What began as a six-day trip into Hellfire Studios with producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum, Black Midi, Caroline) resulted in more potent material than anyone bargained for—three studio albums to be released over the next year.

“Working with Spud was probably the best studio experience we’ve had”, long-time member Paddy Shine notes. “He was open to all our ideas, facilitated them the best he could and always had great suggestions. The vibe was right and things just flowed”. The result revealed itself in the studio: “We were hoping to get a good album out of the session and lo and behold we got three of the fuckers. It’s interesting that we did pretty much capture the full spectrum of the Gnod sound across all three”.

“Shadow Mirror” is a seven-minute quietly constructed guitar track and the track showcases Gnod’s alchemical marriage of the maximal and the minimal, driven by the power of repetition.

Paddy Shine reflects on the anniversary: “We haven’t reflected too heavily on the twenty year mark and maybe we shouldn’t, but I’m glad we are marking it in true Gnod fashion by releasing too many albums”.

Gnod tour Europe in May, including shows in Bristol, Paris, Berlin, and Brussels, before appearing at End of the Road Festival in September.
